Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and without each and every one of you we could not help the community as we do. We can always use help. Volunteers are a critical link between Treasure House, its partner agencies and the people they serve on a daily basis. Please consider volunteering your time and talents. Volunteer opportunities:
  • Manager – manages the thrift store and food bank areas. The manager prices merchandise that comes into the tagging room and gets the merchandise ready to go on the sales floor. The manager assists the clerks when necessary. The ;manager also gives out food boxes to people who come to the food bank for food. Managers work 4 hour shifts.
  • Clerks – work in the thrift store. Their jobs include, welcoming customers and clients, operating the cash registers and ringing up sales. It also includes putting merchandise away and straightening the shelves and clothing racks as time permits. Clerks work 4 – hour shifts.
  • Donation sorters – The sorters work in the sorting area and sort through the donations that are donated to the thrift store. Must be able to stand and lift at least 20 pounds. Sorters work 4-hour shifts and start at 8:00 am Monday – Friday.
  • Bread runners – This job requires a pickup truck or a van. The person must be able to lift at least 35 pounds. The person goes to local stores and picks up donated bread and product. Usually takes 2 hours.
  • Rag runners – Load bags of un-saleable clothing, shoes, etc and take the load to Portland and help unload. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. This is a once a month job.
  • Yard work – To be done when projects need to be done.
  • Fix it person – Needed to help with repairs and maintenance of the building.
  • Lost & Found Café – volunteers are needed to cook, kitchen helpers, table set up, clean up, and dish washers. Meal days are Mondays and Thursdays. Hours vary according to job.
